Experimental Responses
Grab any sound from your tracks or the Finder and toss it on Altiverb to use it as an impulse response. Try piano chords, breaking glass, spoken word, thunder or a drum loop. In convolution each sample of the input is replaced by the entire impulse response. So if you use a piano chord as an impulse Response, and you clap your hands into Altiverb, out comes the chord.

Stage Positioning
An exhaustive recording session in a Viennese concert hall gave us an algorithm that allows you to accurately place your sound anywhere on stage of all our concert halls, or in any of our other rooms. Physically correct sound placement using the Altiverb Stage Positioner creates a stunningly realistic audio panorama.

Musical gates and delays
To tie your reverb effects more to your tracks Altiverb 7 features a reverb gate that is set using note values. And it is tied to your song’s tempo. Any reverb tail can be reversed and handles the same way, and Altiverb’s pre-delay can also be set in this manner, so it is easy to put that slap-back delay in a musical spot.

Brightness and Chaos
The Brightness parameter closely fits a classic synthetic reverb on top of the Impulse Response. This adds a particular brightness in a way EQ never can. Toss in a bit of chaotic modulation in your reverb and not every hit will sound identical in the reverb. Slightly out of tune notes will be covered up in the reverb tail by modulation.

Virtual Buss Compressors is a suite of three unique-sounding dynamic processors, all 100% modeled after top analog mastering gear and thus ideal for program material.  Every nuance of real analog compressors has been modeled, including the exact nonlinear characteristics of their transformers, tubes, VCAs, amplifiers, phase distortions, harmonic distortions, and timing.

FG-RED
This compressor is based on the classic RED-faced compressor that has been a favorite of mix legend Chris Lord Alge, who first showed it to me when I visited his studio years ago. I thought it was odd actually: here was this compressor that nobody else seemed to really use, and it was on a setting at 1.5:1 and the attack looked very fast for a Mix-Buss compressor. This was puzzling because I usually associated a faster attack with a loss of transient punch, but if you’ve heard Chris’s mixes you know that they are the exact opposite of that! So being the classic gearslut, I bought one, (I got the unit with both input and output transformers). The first thing I did was put it on my mix in the settings that Chris showed me… 1.5:1, attack around 10/11 o’clock, auto release, compressing just 2-3db tops. And…. WOW! One of the clearest, punchiest sounding rock mixes I’d ever heard come out of my own speakers. This unit was amazing!!!

FG-GREY
The FG-GREY starts off with a very precise model of the classic British “4000 series console compressor”. I’ve used the hardware model for many years but I never fully appreciated just how magnificent the piece is until studying it during the modeling process. It has a way of being able to tighten and ‘gel’ the components of a mix in ways that can go from fairly transparent in auto-release mode, to very aggressive in manual mode.

FG-MU
I’ve been lucky enough to hear and use some of the most classic and hard-to-find tube buss compressors on the planet (like the Fairchild 670 and Manley Vari Mu), and let me tell you, there is some real magic that happens when your mix goes through a brilliantly-designed piece of tube gear. The midrange thickens, the lows get tighter and rounder, and the top end opens up with a beautiful sparkle… even better, those harsh upper mid overtones seems to get tamed too. For the FG-MU, we put all of these wonderful qualities into the algorithm. To experience FG-MU for the first time you don’t even have to do any compression, as just going through the processor without any gain reduction will reveal a beautiful open sound due to the modeling of the tube circuit path. Even when I’m using the FG-GREY or FG-RED, I love using the VBC Rack just so I can have the audio pass through the FG-MU!

If I’ve got tracks that need more vibe, more color, and less of the fast, sharp transients digital is famous for, Omega Transformer plugins are my weapon of choice. Transformer plugins are extremely cool on their own, giving my VI’s, loops, and found sounds the character of carefully chosen, boutique analog circuits. When a Transformer is used on tracks recorded with the Omega Preamp, the effect is quite stunning: a dead-on replication of the original hardware’s sonic signature. This is not “sounds kinda like…” this is “sounds exactly like”. Transformer plugins are very simple to use — just turn the Intensity knob and a lovely, distinct flavor unfolds. The resulting Transformed tracks mix easier, sound sweeter, give EQ’s more mojo to extract, and feed compressors a rounder, punchier transient to play with. The result is, to my ears, a truly magical Transformation.

VCA COMPRESSOR
The FG-401 started as a recreation of the classic British console channel compressor, but morphed into a whole lot more. First, we gave it variable attack and release with increased range, which added more tonal options. After that we added an input transformer stage – but not just any transformer, the famous transformer from the British Class A Console! This adds a beautiful warmth and sheen to the compressor, and lastly we added an entirely unique second circuit path that provides an additional smooth and rich tone. The FG-401 is perhaps the most versatile mix compressor in the world, and it can sound good on any source you feed into it!

BRIT-4K EQ
The FG-S is a digital recreation of one of the most famous British console equalizers from the 80’s. This equalizer also has rich harmonics and interactive mid bands with a fat musical tone. This is the ultimate workhorse mix eq that can be used on any track – great for surgical cutting strokes, or wide bell and shelf strokes for making drums and guitars punch out of the speakers.

FG-N
BRIT-N EQ
The FG-N is a digital recreation of one of THE most classic discrete Class A British equalizers from the 70’s. All aspects of the circuit were modeled, including the rich harmonics and saturations that naturally occur when the equalizer is in use. The hardware only contained one mid band, but we added another to make the Brit-N even more versatile than the original. This equalizer is lush and fat, and it sounds great on everything you send through it.

FG-116
FET COMPRESSOR
The FG-116 is a precise replication of the classic American FET limiter, and no expense was spared capturing every nuance of this amazing device. From its trademark timing characteristics to the extremely musical sound of its transformer, the FG-116 gives engineers and producers the musical and fat tone that has made the hardware so famous. The FG-116 sounds great on everything from lead vocals and drums to bass guitars.

TRIMMER
The Trimmer is a useful module that performs a few basic but essential operations within the Virtual Mix Rack: RMS and Peak Level Monitoring, a simple Trim control and a Phase Reverse Switch. When using it in the first slot, the Trimmer allows you to define how the signal will hit the following VMR module, with a precise output level monitoring.

The VMR plugin is also modular, and new processors will be added in the future which will further enhance its powerful functionality.

FL Studio Mobile 3 is the next chapter of development, for the application, there is no going back. FLM2 development ended and the App will slowly break as Android/iOS devices and the operating system evolve (the clock is now ticking for FLM2 if you are still using it). Rather than leave FLM2 customers in the dark, and make them pay again for FLM3, we decided to replace one with the other. FLM3 includes more free synths, instruments, effects and capabilities. This also includes fully synchronized Android/iOS development and an architecture that also works on Windows, Windows Phone and as a plugin in FL Studio. Later, there will also be a Mac version. FLM3 is vectorial, it will work on any screen size from a phone to a wall-sized TV.
